Economical Dublin

According to a recent study the cost of living and holidaying in Dublin has reduced dramatically in the last year. Dublin has now become one of the economical cities to live in and visit in western Europe.

This is a dramatic turn around from the days when Dublin was up there as one of the most expensive cities in the world (not quite Paris and New York all the same).

An International survey put together by UK Post Office states that the Czech capital Prague is the most economical place for a city break, taking costs such as accommodation, food, drink, museum entrance and public transport into consideration. Lisbon, Budapest, Istanbuland Warsaw are the next best value.

A basket of goods has also dramatically decreased in value.  On the full basket of prices that were surveyed, Dublin came in at €198 — whereas a visit to Paris would pay €285 for similar expenses, and €296 in Rome. London prices were 25pc dearer than Dublin at €248.

Granted these are some of the most expensive cities in the world but it is relevant to our previous costs which were far too high.

Dublin now comes in substantially cheaper than major cities including Berlin, Barcelona, Amsterdam, London, Bruges, Paris, Copenhagen, Rome and New York.

This is good news for not only locals and tourists but also Foreign Investment that is looking to set up here in Ireland. As stated in previous posts Ireland and Dublin had become too expensive. Now we are far more competitive and beginning to turn a corner in terms of the banking and financial issues that we have had to face.
